POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/ or EXPERIENCE

  • Must be currently 16 years old or older.
  • Must have successfully completed the American Red Cross Life guarding course and present a certificate of completion.
  • Must have worked in a water park as a lifeguard for a minimum of one year or one summer season with satisfactory evaluations from supervisors.
  • Must have successfully completed the American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor course and be a registered online with American Red Cross for reporting classes and training updates.
  • Must have taught swimming lessons using the Learn to Swim Program from American Red Cross for one year or one summer season.
  • Must have successfully completed the American Red Cross Lifeguard Management course and present certificate.
  • Be willing to be trained as a Lifeguard Instructor from the American Red Cross. 

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise 10-13 lifeguards each shift during open swim and night rentals. Making sure all lifeguards and employees show up on time and and are in proper uniform.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws and enforce all water park rules.
  • Inspect the safety of the water park prior to opening to the pubic each day. (Restrooms, Water Quality, General Cleanliness, Diving Boards, Slide)
  • Inspect the rescue equipment to be in proper working condition each day. Reporting all broken or items that need to be repaired.
  • Monitor activities in swimming areas to prevent accidents. Provide direction to EMS when situations arise.
  • Supervisors will conduct a vigilant eye check with every lifeguard during each shift.
  • Supervisors will do weekly lifeguard training. Supervisors will ensure to the correct procedure is followed and correct technique is used.
  • Supervisors must be punctual to prepare the water park to be opened to the public each day.
  • Supervisors will direct the work done by lifeguards and concession stand works in their primary and secondary responsibilities.
  • Supervisors will address complaints from patrons and work to resolve problems that arise.

Applicants may be required to submit to a criminal background check and fingerprint report and must pass required drug screening.
