GENERAL PURPOSE

Under the direct supervision of the Senior Center Director, the Kitchen Manger, must have kitchen knowledge, experience and organizational skills, to demonstrate an ability to manage kitchen staff, scheduling and timecard submittal. The Kitchen Manager is responsible for planning menus, ordering all food items, paper supplies etc. The Kitchen Manager keeps an on-going inventory of all food items, paper products, kitchen supplies and all other duties required to managing a commercial kitchen.

This position requires a current, Kitchen Food Safety Manger certificate, as required by Utah County Department of Health and at least two years of experience in a commercial kitchen. The Kitchen Manager must follow all procedures set forth by Mountainland Association of Governments and the Utah County Department of Health.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Supervises and manages kitchen staff.

Plans and prepares regularly scheduled meals as well as banquet meals for special events. Prepares well balanced menus for upcoming months making special considerations for the needs and preferences of the clientele. Prepares grocery list and orders food. All food preparation to include mixing, baking, and cooking using the stove, oven, large mixers and other various kitchen equipment.

Cleaning and sanitation of equipment, counters and floors. Deep cleaning of kitchen equipment during the month of July.

Other related duties as assigned.

Must abide by all city policies and procedures.

Applicants will be required to submit to a criminal background check and drug test.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have a high school degree or equivalent, experience in managing a commercial kitchen, and the ability to supervise kitchen staff and volunteers. Value and promote customer service, as well as, be sensitive to and work well with staff and volunteers. Utilize good communication, organizational skills and willing to work in a "Team" oriented environment. Must have a flexible schedule and be willing to work extra hours, during special events.
  • Requires loving, compassionate person who is sensitive to the needs of senior citizens.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs.
